In New Mexico, we take chile peppers very seriously! Each fall, the chiles are carefully harvested. Some are roasted and some are tied together to make a string (or in Spanish, a ristra) of the beautiful peppers. They are always shades of red because the chiles ripen from green to beautiful shades of red. This shadow box uses three different colors to create the ristra and is tied together with twine. Ristras are often used to decorate during the holiday season or ar hung in the home so that the dried chiles can be used throughout the winter.
Each color is a different piece of 65lb. paper. These pieces of paper are then layered together to create the entire image.
The paper layers are spaced apart in the shadow box adding an interesting perspective to the piece.
The shadow box can either sit on a table top or be hung on a wall.
This shadow box measures 10" x 10" x 1.75" and is in a natural wood frame with glass. This item is also available in a black frame by request.
Colors may vary slightly, as every box is made to order and paper availability may change.
All shadow boxes are carefully wrapped and sent USPS.
