This is part of my New Mexico Lotería series!
Catrina has a long and interesting history. She was first created at the start of the 1900's by artist José Guadalupe Posada. While originally part of a satirical political cartoon, she now represents the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), being the original calavera. The 11 in the top left corner stands for the month of November, when Dia de los Muerto takes place. This makes a great gift for anyone who is fond of the Bingo-like Mexican game, Lotería, or for someone who loves Dia de los Muertos.
The design is on both sides of the 11oz mug.
Hand wash for best results. If placed in the dishwasher, place in upper rack.
